Description of Rick

In the bedroom we had been looking for a bookcase for a while. After getting some inspiration we opted for a slightly recessed bookcase on the windowsill. This makes optimal use of this space. The lower part is slightly higher, so that it can be used for decoration. The other shelves are provided with partitions, to give the whole a clear structure, whereby with the filling with books, the structure ensures a calm structured image. The bookcase is painted in the color of the walls.

How I made this project

Via TOSIZE.it I bought the necessary sheet material. I chose 30 mm primed MDF. This means I spend less time on painting. After I had positioned the side and top in place, I started building from the bottom. First a partition, one shelf, two partitions, one shelf and so on until the cabinet was standing. I used the WOLFCRAFT Drill Set for concealed wooden screw connections. I always think this gives a nice result. I pre-drilled the partitions and secured them with concealed screws. To be on the safe side, I secured the cabinet to the wall with an extra batten, using recessed impact plugs. I did not opt for a back wall. For the finish, I chose to seal the cabinet all around with the connections to the frame, wall and ceiling. I pre-treated the end edges with Avis Edge Sealer. The choice of primed panels and the use of Avis Edge Sealer meant that the project was completed with two coats of finish.

Dimensions of my DIY project

The dimensions are: Width l 1235 mm Height l 1560 mm Depth l 200 mm Height of partitions l 2700 mm (with the exception of the bottom one, which is 3300 mm.
