Description of Evin
Large assymetric bookshelf, 221 cm x 170. Beech wood, with 5 shelves. The design is hanging, in order to achieve a clean and minimalistic design. The assymetric design was used to accommodate a hydroponic herb garden on the middle shelf. Overall project took roughly a week to complete. Majority of work is in design to fit the space and sanding / staining. Very satisfying project. Overall probably novice / intermediate level of ability is required.
How I made this project
Designed a mockup in CAD to fit the space. Preference was for a hanging model to keep a clean floor and minimalistic look. The full bookshelf is roughly 7ft tall by 5.5 foot wide, cut to order from a single 19mm beech board. The shelves were ordered with a 2mm bevel on the edges. The vertical struts are double thickness, achieved by gluing two boards together. Wall mounts are countersunk behind the L brackets to hide them. Total project took roughly 40hours, including cutting, gluing, sanding to 15 grit and staining twice.
