Description of Klaas

We ordered a pine board from TOSIZE.it measuring 294 x 90 to make a worktop in my new studio. Not a very complicated project, but here and there some corners had to be cut out to make it fit. My husband varnished the board a few times to protect it from moisture (it's a ceramics studio, so quite humid). It looks great, has a lot of workspace due to not only the length, but also the depth of the board. Now I can still put all kinds of things along the edge without it restricting the workspace.

How I made this project

First my husband attached slats along the walls on which the shelf rests. Then he measured where pieces had to be cut out of the shelf to make everything fit. After varnishing and placing the shelf I sawed the finishing strips myself (2 left hands, but still managed reasonably well) and a leg was placed underneath in the middle of the worktop. Incidentally, we had initially used boat varnish, but that was the wrong choice. After sanding it down completely we used glitsa parquet varnish, which has a semi-matt finish.

Dimensions of my DIY project

external dimensions are exactly as the delivered sheet; 294 x 90, with a piece cut out here and there for frames etc.
