Description

We have designed and made a beautiful hall cupboard exactly as desired using 18 mm birch plywood. The cupboard consists of a shoe cabinet, two rows of coat hooks and a hat shelf. The shoe cabinet is strong enough to sit on.

Making optimal use of the hall

To start, I primed all visible parts with Sikkens Rubbol BL Rezisto primer. Then I mounted the various parts with screws for the parts that were not visible and dowels when they were visible. For extra reinforcement, construction adhesive was also used on the dowels. After installation I finished everything with Sikkens Rubbol BL Rezisto Satin. This paint is extra scratch-resistant, which is not an unnecessary luxury given its use as a sofa. Of course, it was also sanded before painting. By the way, I chose the color RAL9016. This is whiter than RAL9010. I also mounted the coat hooks on the relevant plywood parts.

I then placed the cupboard. I screwed the shoe cabinet to the side of the meter cupboard. This is done by pre-drilling and screwing screws into the ends from the meter cupboard. This means that the shoe cupboard forms one whole with the meter cupboard.
