Description

Both the downstairs and the stairs on the first floor were closed for a more chic look, as there was no added light. In addition, it was desirable to make the stairs safer for pets.

Closing DIY stairs with sheet material

The ordered planks were shortened per step with a cross-cut saw, as this was easier than cutting each plank on to be measured in advance. Each shelf is attached with 4 chipboard screws 6x80, the holes are pre-drilled and countersunk. The screws and holes in the stairs were covered with wood filler. All steps sanded and filled holes flattened. All seams of the stairs have been sealed, both front and back. As a finishing touch, the stairs were painted three times.
